I have a few special pens. 2 are Parker ballpoints. One of them I received in High School for some achievement I can't remember now. It lives in its box. I'm not sure I've ever used it. The other Parker I received as a tip (along with a $10) from an elegant older gentleman I chatted with during a long midnight shift as a waitress in college. It's unusual in that it looks like wood grain rather than simple silver or gold etc. I still use it occasionally. Mostly, I use uni-ball vision micros. Though I do have a handful of Bic ballpoints from the late 90s with green aliens on them that I treasure and use sparingly. (I can't believe they still work!) Now you've got me thinking about my pens! I write fiction and I prefer to do it longhand for the first draft. Which style pen I use depends on my mood. Some flow more easily than others. I prefer a simple Bic round Stic for writing because it doesn't show through to the next page. Yet if I'm in a certain mood, I'll use Flair pens. Crazy, right? Thank you for starting this lighthearted conversation. I could go on about the other things I've collected over the years...but it's time to pack the Hubby's lunch! Take care.

Phoebe! I love that you shared these memories and stories about your writing utensils!! This makes me so happy to spark a conversation to engage in some back and forth sharing of stories!! I, too, worked the graveyard shift in college - I imagined your late night chat with the elegant gentleman!

I once gave our niece a sleek red Parker pen for her high school graduation. Did she use it or appreciate it? I don’t know but I do know I found beauty in the giving!!!

Love the Bics with green aliens!! Treasure those!!

Thank you for sharing a bit about your writing process and how pens play into it!!

You brought joy into my day with your comments!!🩷
